Author’s Note

Growing up in a traditional Mexican household in the United States, I have learned that food in the Hispanic and Latinx culture holds deep symbolism beyond what it does for our bodies on a physiological level. However, rates of diet-related chronic diseases in the Hispanic and Latinx population in the United States tend to be higher than our white counterparts. Through a three series podcast, my co-host (and best friend) Carolina and I delve into three major food topics through the Hispanic lens: the 7 regional Mexican cuisines, acculturation and veganism, and diet culture. As we discuss these three cultural heavy topics, we segway into how this affects nutritional outcomes. Our hope is to spread knowledge and insight into our beloved community and represent our culture in the food/nutrition world with pride. We hope you enjoy listening to Two Peas in a Pod!
